Supporting Our Little Ones

David has had a hard time at school and places where there are many people. He gets easily overstimulated which gets him into trouble. We have been working with him so much on self control and his hyperactivity (me, his teachers, a director).
He has been getting special Spiderman stickers when he is behaving at school, so today he got one and put it on my shirt when I saw him early in the day. I was so proud of him and left it on my shirt for the rest of the day. That was my way to show my support for him- didn't really think it would make any difference, but just felt like it was my way to show support and how proud of him I am.
When we got in the car, he told me he got another sticker and I showed him that I was still wearing the first one. He just beamed and said, "Mom, I love you sooo much!"

That touched me - that small way of support really meant so much to him. Sometimes it just takes something so small to touch a little soul.

Butterflies

I just have to say- I still get butterflies when I see my husband. Of course, there are times I want to pull his hair out, but for the most part- I love him more each day. I am so thankful for David and our relationship. We can still have fun and enjoy each other even in the craziness. I am so blessed for all I have been given!!

In His Time

Today in my Bible study, we talked about Elizabeth. She was so devoted and faithful. She could not have children, but continued to have faith and committed herself to Him. When she was told she was going to have John, she knew that God would bless her in His time. That is what is so amazing about her- she had so much faith and followed God's will and was finally blessed in her old age. I know for me it is so hard to be patient and when I pray for something, I want immediate response. When that doesn't happen, I need to remember Elizabeth in her strength. In His time- not mine.

Growing

David was sitting with me talking and says, "When I get bigger, I am going to drive Daddy's truck and take forever in stores." (which is sometimes 2 minutes, but forever to him)

"I think that will be when I turn 5. Yeah, I will be much bigger then."

He looks down at himself and says, "Why am I just not growing yet?"

I look at him and say, "Buddy, just enjoy being 4."

He just looks down at his legs again and moves on to his next activity.

"Jesus loves you"

Caroline loves to be with Mommy. She follows me everywhere- kitchen, bathroom- she just loves being with mom. When I am getting ready in the bathroom, she likes to sit in there with me and talk to me. Here is one little conversation:

Caroline: Jesus loves me.

Me: Yes, He does. He loves you sooooo much!

Caroline: Jesus loves you, Mommy.

Me: Thank you, sweet Caroline.

(God sends us His love in precious ways!!)

Fun in the Sandbox




Such a nice day on Sunday! We were able to play outside for a long time and enjoy the weather. The kids played in the sandbox almost the whole time! Caroline just loved shoveling the sand outside of the box. Kate didn't want to get all the way in, and David really wanted to take off all his clothes and get in. Boys are so goofy!

"Mommy, mommy, mommy"

Today I decided to count how many times I heard Mommy/ Mama/ Mom. Okay- 1,2,3...4,5,6...7,8,9,10(loudly). So that is enough- that was just in 1 minute. For some reason they like to say "Mommy" three times at least to call me. Saving this for another day!

The Dog Whisperer

Look at how sweet Kate is to Bliss and also how sweet Bliss is with Kate. She just sits there while the girls pat her! She was climbing up on the little slide today, too, and sliding down the slide holding my hand. Slow down, Kate- you are growing soooo fast!!!

Sacrifices

Lent begins this week- early this year! I was not brought up Catholic, but since becoming one a few years ago, I have thought long and hard each year about what I will give up during this time. Sometimes instead of giving something up, I have decided to add something, such as, prayer with the kids consistently or reading a Bible story each night. I like do this anyway, but I will be honest- there are nights that I am just ready for them all to go to bed. I know this time is about the sacrifice and giving something up we love to remember what Jesus did for us. I struggle with this because everything is so trivial compared to His sacrifice! I like my coffee or soft drinks, and yes, it would be really hard to give these up-- but I still go back to what He gave up for us. I know that obviously we can not do that much, but it just makes me think- I need to make sacrifices every day of the year and remember what God has given us each day. We get in our busy routine and rarely pause in our day- just to remember what He does for us and how much we are loved! I think this year I would like to just make time to "pause" and listen and pray each day- for myself and with the children.

There's Green Grass!

In the early stages of potty training David, I wanted him to pee anywhere but the diaper. When he went through a time where he was scared of the toilet, I even took him outside to pee in the grass or by a tree. How fun is that! (That is actually how my step mom trained my brothers one summer) Now if we are out and he really has to go, but no where to stop, David says, "Look, there is green grass- I need to potty." He will not go on dry, dead grass or the street, but only fresh, green grass. Is he a puppy? What fun to have boys!!!!

Butter, Anyone?

A couple of days ago, we went to eat at El Fenix. I am looking at the kids menu deciding what to order while the kids are busy eating chips and butter. Caroline and Kate are enjoying the packets of butter more and have stopped eating chips. I remember as a child loving the butter at El Fenix and putting it on chips and tortillas. I order 2 kids meals for them to share and the food comes quickly. They ate basically nothing because the 3 butter packets were far more delicious. The girls had butter even on their noses from trying to get all that butter out. I wish I had my camera with me. Next time I think I will just order butter.
